Our fur babies and their health is the most important thing to us. Finding year round prevention from parasites tops our list of what we need to do to ensure they are living the good and healthy life we want for them.

Until recently I didn’t realize there was the need for year round prevention and protection from parasites that might be unknowingly looming. Here in the tropical conditions I knew mosquitoes could be issues for my 2 legged family members but there are so many things that can affect our pets that I wasn’t aware of. I thought keeping our pets indoors meant we didn’t need to worry about parasites.
Regardless of where you live and whether your dogs are kept inside or outdoors they are at risk! Due to these risks it’s imperative that we get our dogs annual screening to detect heartworm disease. The screening is a super easy blood test that can be done at your pet’s yearly check up.
If the unfortunate happens and your dog does test positive there are medications but it can be a very complicated process that can be life threatening. The best protection from heartworms is prevention. Virbac® Sentinel® Spectrum® is a monthly beef flavored chew that is simple to give and can prevent our dogs from getting heartworms in the first place. Being sure not miss any doses of Sentinel® Spectrum® is the best way to protect our furry friends.
Fleas have been our nemesis since the beginning of the year. Thankfully since starting Virbac® Sentinel® Spectrum® in March our troubles with fleas have come to an end. It’s alarming how fleas can literally take over your pet, home and yard. You usually don’t even realize how many fleas are around. Fleas that are seen are only a very small portion of the fleas that are actually present. The fleas that aren’t seen can live in a home or yard for up to 1 whole year before they even find a host. Once a host is found it can be a vicious cycle. You can prevent infestation by not allowing them to find a host.
What do you know about fleas and how to protect your family from them? Are you like me and didn’t know much until it was too late? We’d love to hear your thoughts in this survey.
