We all have so much on our plate that it may seem as if we aren’t thinking to the best of our ability. Life has its way of taking over and making the hustle and bustle of today’s world affect the way we think. I can’t tell you how many times my plate is so full I feel I’m losing my mind or not as smart as I use to be.
There are ways to do things so you can become smarter and a more effective thinker in this busy world. There are many things we can do to boost the things we already know and be able to use this information in a useful manner.
Are you taking care of your health? One of the most important things I’ve learned is if I’m not healthy I won’t be able to get much done mentally or physically. This means being proactive so I won’t get sick. A huge part of this is getting enough sleep. I’m at my best when I sleep an adequate amount of time every night. I’ve noticed when I don’t have a good nights sleep by afternoon I’m dragging and not able to maintain things at a high level.
I also think the more I read whether it be literature, fiction or even the newspaper keeping up on actual reading really seems to boost me cognitively. I think a big part of this is reading actually hand-held books not on my computer, tablet or phone. The good old books with paper seems to really make a difference. My mind is able to open up and I enjoy the way my eyes read the words and it translates to my brain. I instill the importance of constant daily reading with my children so why wouldn’t I want to do this myself. The benefits are great!
A big part of being an effective thinker to become smarter is having down time. Do we really always need to be in high gear and rushing around constantly over thinking? The rat race of life is not good for our minds. Having time wear we just relax physically, mentally and emotionally does wonders for every aspect of our life and well-being. I don’t think many of us take time for mental health days or days to let ourselves rejuvenate.
Having fun and laughing is a fabulous way to let our bodies and minds reset and become smarter. It’s great to work and get done all you need to do. We must have play time to. What is it that make you laugh, what things are fun for you. These can be hobbies, sports, comedy shows, concerts and hanging out with friends. There are so many options that don’t take a lot of time but will mean a lot to you as a person in the long run.
Another important area that can’t be over looked is eating right. What you put in to your body will affect your thinking and logic as well as your health. Just making a few healthier choice will make all the difference. Do little things and you’ll see some changes.
