It’s natural to accumulate clutter, but there comes a time when you may need some organization hacks for your small things. Even the most OCD of people have to go through their belongings from time to time and either throw away things that no longer need to be kept around, or figure out new and ingenious ways to store away the stuff. With children keeping small things organized may be a bit more challenging.
Organization Hacks For Your Small Things
It seems like the older that you get and the longer you’ve lived in a place, the more material things you collect. It gets even worse when you have children because it seems like every day you’re buying a new toy and attempting to throw out the old ones, but your children somehow know exactly what you’ve thrown away the moment it’s gone and in one single moment, all things instantaneously get thrown into never-ending entropy.
Sounds about right, right? Well, if you’re tired of the small things cluttering up your home, here are some organization hacks that will help you organize your small things when you have little ones around.
Divide and Conquer
If you have children, you know what it’s like to have the markers, the color crayons, the colored pencils, the pens, the chalk, the pastels, the individual paints, and all of the other little items your children use to entertain themselves strewn around the house.
If you want to organize these a bit easier, get yourself an array of pencil bags and divide up the different kinds of utensils into groups. Stock them away in bags individually and label what they are. This way, when your child wants to color, you can avoid the markers and the mess by only grabbing the bag of crayons or colored pencils.
The Ottoman Can Be King of All
With all the toys and blankets, you need a way to stash them and keep them out of sight when guests come over or when you just can’t take the mess anymore. For this reason, ottoman’s are your best friend and they can really be the king of everything. In case you don’t know, an ottoman is essentially a footrest for your couch, but if you get one with a liftable top and storage space, you can stash the toys or the blankets, or the children every once in awhile…just kidding about the children, but an ottoman will be your best friend. This is one of the best hidden organization hacks many moms live by.
Have Hidable Jewelry Storage
If you’ve already taken care of the children’s clutter around the house, it’s time to move on to your own things…like your jewelry, for instance. It’s simple to organize your jewelry. Get yourself a mirrored cabinet that opens up to show your organized rings, earrings and necklaces. This way, when you want to find something to wear, it’s easy to see, but when you’re done, it all goes away. The cabinets can either go over the door or they can attach to your wall, so it’s a simple solution for a messy problem.
