If you have a family, you will know just how stressful getting ready every morning can be. You need to get yourself and your kids ready and fed before leaving for the school run. And after all, that you still need to get to work! Sounds like a nightmare, doesn’t it? Actually, it doesn’t have to be so difficult. Especially if you follow these awesome tips for a stress-free morning routine that can help you feel great, look your best and conquer the day ahead of you.
I know… stress-free and morning shouldn’t even be in the same sentence. To say I’m not a morning person is putting it mildly. I’m not going to wake up one day and be a morning person. I have accepted this fact. What I have learned to do over the years with my large family is to do a few things that make life for myself, the kids and my husband a bit easier. Doing things a little different and changing my attitude about morning has made a difference. Here are some things I’ve change and learned to do.
Tips for a Stress-Free Morning Routine
Take More Time
It can be difficult waking up in the morning but, if you can, you should try to give yourself as much time as possible. Ideally, at least an hour. Feeling like you could do with an extra hour in bed? Then go to bed an hour earlier. To make sure everyone is ready on time in the morning, you need as much time as possible. Whatever happens, don’t sleep in! Otherwise, you’ll be rushing around and will look super stressed already before you’ve even got to work! Planning ahead is important. I often will rationalize that I’ll sleep in later in the morning because I stay up way to late. In reality if I went to sleep just a little earlier I could wake up on time and have more time for what actually needs to be done in the morning. This really helps to cut down on the stress.
Whatever happens and no matter how late you are, you and your family should all have breakfast. This gives you all the chance to wake up properly before the day begins. If you are able to sit down together then that’s even better. This way you have a chance to spend some time together. This doesn’t work for my family during the week but to have breakfast together at least one morning on the weekend is great. Breakfast is the most essential meal of the day. You need some food in you before you start the day, it’s what gives you the fuel you need all day long. You’ll also be less likely to snack before lunch. Breakfast is seriously one of the most important things you can do for your health.
Have Some You Time
Take some time on your own in the morning to gather yourself together. This doesn’t have to take too long; only five minutes will do! The best time to do this is when you are doing your makeup, meditating, making your daily to do list etc. Taking care of you is what will make your day the start out on the right foot. Pamper yourself a little. Maybe even take extra steps to sprucing yourself up. Put on a little make up. You don’t have to do much but something that tell yourself you are prioritizing YOU. Use quality products, such as Mehron makeup, to ensure you look fabulous when you step out of your door. My grandmother always said just putting on a little lipstick can really change the way you feel. I use a light gloss and really like how it makes me feel as if I’ve done more than I really have.
Find it super hard to wake up in the morning? Then it sounds like you could do with some caffeine! There is no wonder why coffee is a popular breakfast drink. It can perk you up instantly! If you love your coffee and can’t get by without it in the mornings, you should think about getting a coffee machine or a K-cup maker. That way, you can enjoy barista-quality coffee every morning without having to stop off at your local cafe on the way to work. And that saves you both time and money!
Don’t worry about having a stressful morning. All that worry and dread can only make it feel a lot worse than it is! When I’m stressed and watching the clock it seems like things seem to get more out of control. If I take a deep breath and tell myself this is all I can do and I’m doing things the best I can it seems like I’m able to relax and fell more positive. Simply smile and feel good about the day ahead. If you are in a good mood, less will irritate you, and you won’t have anything to feel stressed about. And that puts you in a much better place to enjoy the rest of your day!
