We’ve had a pretty dirty and wet winter here in Hawaii… We may not have snow but we do have red dirt and when it gets wet it is awful to deal with. Our dog Lehua loves spending time outside rolling around in this dirt. We give her baths at home but it seems really difficult to get the red tint from her lighter fur and especially her white fur.

Since our pets are important members of our family you will most often find them curled up in our beds, lying on our pillows and snuggled in our blankets. They go with us most places and we want them looking good, smelling good and most importantly feeling good.
With the amount of red dirt that has been stirred up with all the storms we’ve had, I knew we needed some professional help getting our babies cleaned up. Lehua is very much our kolohe girl (rascal) and can be quite playful and rambunctious. Where as Sofia has a lot of anxiety and can be fearful around other animals and people she doesn’t know. With these issues we had been reluctant to take them places for grooming. After speaking to the staff over at PetSmart® Grooming I knew our girls would be in good hands.
Booking an appointment to fit our hectic schedule for 2 dogs was quite easy, they even said I could book their appointments online in the future. I was amazed at the array of services offered at PetSmart Grooming, they have thought of everything any mom and dad pet owner would want. My husband and I were very impressed when we found out all PetSmart salon associates receive annual safety certification and take extra course-work where they learn about dog anatomy, signs of stress and common pet medical conditions.
Lehua was in desperate need of a deep cleaning, deShedding and nail trim. When we arrived at PetSmart Grooming we were greeted by a wonderful and patient staff that was not only willing but experienced at handling our rowdy and lovable dog. Lehua was pampered and given the Top Dog Plus along with their amazing nail grinding. I can’t believe how smooth and soft they were able to make her nails. They cleaned out her ears and her breath smelled fresh 🙂
Kerri-Lynn the PetSmart Grooming manager gave us a call during Lehua’s appointment to let us know that she was missing us a little (awwwww) but they were right on top of things and even assigned an additional salon associate to comfort her and to help things go a little faster so she wouldn’t be away from us for too long. When we showed up to get her she was bonding with Chelsea and really becoming adjusted to being in the salon. I was amazed at how clean they were able to get her. Her white fur is actually pure white again. She looked beautiful, fresh and very happy.
Taking our little Sofia in for grooming had me quite worried. Sofia has a lot of anxiety, especially around people and animals she doesn’t know. She will often shake and become distressed. Sofia’s teeth and ears really needed some TLC so we knew we had to take her in.
Sofia is a long-haired Chihuahua and was assigned to Tati a PetSmart Groomer. Their groomers (those that give haircuts) receive an additional 400 hours of hands-on training. When we arrived we were greeted by Kerri-Lynn and Tati. Tati gave Sofia a good look over and took special note of where we wanted Sofia to be trimmed and gave her knowledgeable recommendations. I’m truly in awe of Tati and Kerri-Lynn’s disposition with the animals that come into their salon. You can tell they love their job and love to care for our sweet fur babies.
When I handed Sofia over to Tati she seemed a little hesitant but within a minute I could see Sofia felt at ease and loved by her new friend. I have never seen Sofia adapt to anyone this fast. I’m a true believer that animals know who they can trust. The sweetness and compassion was felt in the way Tati talked to Sofia and the way she cradled and genuinely showed her affection for her. What a great day, as I walked around PetSmart and then went to a store next door I felt so reassured and knew my baby was getting the best treatment.
We decided to get PetSmart’s Chi Package and boy am I glad we did it.
- CHI® for Dogs Deep Moisture Shampoo
- CHI® for Dogs Oatmeal Conditioner
- CHI® for Dogs Detangling Finishing Spray
Sofia looked amazing! Gorgeous is an understatement. The feel of her coat was and still is so silky and soft. I adore the smell of the Chi products. Tati did an outstanding job trimming Sofia’s hair and grinding her nails to perfection. Her teeth were shiny, breath smelling good and her ears were clear of unwanted hair and icky wax. When I walked up and saw her sleeping peacefully in Tati’s arms with her adorable bows and bandanna… my heart melted. My baby was treated like the princess she is!
PetSmart Grooming puts the needs of the pet as their priority. I saw this in every interaction with our dogs and the other animals in the salon. Each salon associate and groomer is extremely attentive and accommodating to what is required for the different personalities of each animal. I loved the personable care we received. We were also given a “Pawgress” Report for Lehua and Sofia that let us know exactly what was done on this visit and any observations noted during their visits. This report also comes with some fantastic coupons too.
I can’t wait to schedule our next appointments at PetSmart Grooming. We felt their service is impeccable and their prices are just right to fit our budget. What a great tool to be able to go online and schedule the services we need and we can even choose our groomer! We’ll be coming to see you soon Tati and Chelsea 🙂
