Many of you know about my struggle to get writing again and sharing with all of you some of my real life stories. Then you must also know I’ve been losing this battle. I’ve been dealing with some major writer’s block and procrastination. Ughhhhh…..
While I genuinely love bringing all my readers great giveaways and fabulous products I actually started and love blogging because of a strong need to share my story. To bring life stories to anyone that cares to read them.
A while back I stumbled onto the blog of a male blogger; Eli from Coach Daddy. I immediately was drawn to his blog name and logo since our family is all about soccer. I knew I was gonna love what he had to share. Hey, it’s all about the sports – right?
What I didn’t think I would find was a very intuitive, ingeniously witty writer. Every time I head over to his blog there is just a tremendous amount of real life. Things I have said and so much I wish I had said. What we all want to say, Eli speaks his mind and makes you laugh while he’s saying it.
He shares from a deep understanding of life as a father to 3 daughters. A few months ago he even shared some of his knowledge with us here at Heartbeats~ Soul Stains when he wrote about Lessons I’ve Learned From My Kids.
I’ve gotten the opportunity to participate in a monthly post Eli puts together with others called 6 Words based on Ernest Hemingway’s belief that a short story could be told in just 6 words. Each month Eli comes up with a topic and others share their 6 words. It’s great fun and a treat to read. Read what Eli posted in November; Our Family Stories, in 6 Words. You’ll enjoy what everyone came up with.
I was honored when Eli asked me to guest post months ago. He has a weekly Wednesday guest post spot and mine would be coming up towards the end of the year. At the time he asked me to contribute a post to his blog I was keeping up with writing things on my own blog. I was at least posting something a few times a week. Whether it be family life, kids stories, recipes or mommy tips I was putting something of my own up on the blog.
I was really excited and figured I’d breeze through getting something over to share with his readers. When the end of November came upon me quickly I was at zero for writing anything for my own blog much less anyone else.
You know that thought that you get thrown at you exactly what you need? Well, that’s just what guest posting over at Eli’s was bringing to my world. I realized I was in a closed up box and needed to get out of it.
Never Mistake Motion for Action —– Ernest Hemingway
Sitting down and following through with my commitment was exactly what I needed. With Eli’s awesome topics and his encouragement I pulled things together and was able to share my heart again. At least start scraping a little bit of the cobwebs off 🙂
Family memories are so valuable and important to keep and cherish. Today I’m hoping on over to Coach Daddy and letting you know 3 Ways to Make Sure Family Memories Last. Take a look and let me know what other things we can do to preserve our families memories. While you’re there visiting Eli take a look around; I’m sure you’ll find his charm enlightening just as I have.
