Nutrition is a huge part of our families focus. Our furry family’s nutrition is just as important to me as anyone else in our household. We want them to have the best so they can be happy, healthy and live wonderful lives.
Finding food that both our Sofia aka Ms. Picky and Lehua will enjoy and benefit from can be a challenge. Sofia can be very finicky and has a bit of dry skin issues so she’s always in need of finding something she’ll like that will also help her skin out. Lehua on the other hand loves everything she can get her little paws on but her tummy is very sensitive. She can get diarrhea if she doesn’t eat the right things.
Merrick Pet Care has been making wholesome and nutritious pet food since 1988. They have been around a while and have a great reputation, they take pride in providing pet food only made in US kitchens that have no preservatives and no fillers. Merrick Classic dry recipes begin with real deboned meat as the first ingredient to give our pets high level of excellent proteins. They also add farm-fresh fruits and vegetables such as carrots, apples, blueberries, peas and many more great ingredients. Merrick’s recipes include a healthy blend of whole grains and now have ancient grains like quinoa.
Sofia and Lehua really love Lamb so the first of the Merrick lines of Dog food we tried out was the Classic Lamb + Green Peas Recipe with Ancient Grains. The first thing I loved about this food is that the first 5 ingredients are all exactly what we want our babies to have and I can read them all and know what they are. They start with Deboned Lamb, Lamb Meal, Peas, Brown Rice and Barley. These are all quality ingredients our loved ones deserve; since they are The Best Dogs Ever!
I was delighted to see Sofia took to her new food very well. She has been enjoying the Merrick Classic Lamb and I’ve noticed her skin is not as irritated these past couple weeks. I’m sure it’s due to the increased levels of Omega 6 and Omega 3 and other vitamins in her new yummy food. She eats it well and since we’ve been instructed to give her more dry food for her dental health this is working out perfectly.
Lehua can get an upset stomach and get watery stools when she doesn’t have the appropriate diet. We have been giving her the New and Improved Merrick Classic Real Lamb + Green Peas Recipe with Ancient Grains for several weeks now. She’s been loving her new food which is more palatable and very easy for her to digest. Being a nurse I can tell you one of the signs of good health is what your bowel movements look like. Lehua’s stools have been perfect which is extremely reassuring to me. No diarrhea! This makes her mommy happy 🙂
Knowing both of our sweeties are getting the best with Merrick’s Classic Recipes is the most important thing to us. Not only are they having a nutritious diet packed with wholesome ingredients they also have the added benefits of increased levels of glucosamine and chondroitin which encourage healthy hips and joints. Our pups are looking good and are happy girls!
