Is there an area of your home that you wish would just disappear? You know that room you’ll never let anyone peek at much less go in to?
My Laundry Room is my Nemesis 🙁
Frankly, laundry in general weighs me down. NO matter what I do I can’t keep up with it. In fact I’m constantly tons of loads behind on a daily basis.
I wash anywhere from 2-6 loads a day (even more sometimes) depending on what I need to do outside of the home on any given day.
Some may say in a household with 7 children you’re bound to have a lot of laundry. I get this, I accept this. Although, I do see other busy and large families able to maintain and have no piles of clothes stacked in their laundry room. I bow down in awe to these households. That is not our family scenario.
Our laundry room looks like this!
I have come to grips with the mounds of clothes – I am in full acceptance. Do I like it? NO! Am I looking for and trying new laundry routines? YES! For now as crazy and chaotic as this laundry room of mine is there is some method to my madness. I have some form of controlled chaos going on in the “dungeon”. There is an organized system to my madness.
My husband pitches in a lot and I am learning to accept help. The kiddos have their chores and all except the toddler (she tries to help) put their own clothes away.
The washing and folding of the clothes is this weird area I’m not willing to give up control of. This is my domain so to speak.
I’m sure one day as the kids are grown and gone my laundry table will be free and clear. The washer and dryer will be empty. I’ll have a pristine laundry room – I almost giggle in excitement of the thought.
For now, I’m counting my blessings. With each load I wash my heart will know; my kids have clean clothes on and they are happy and healthy. At the end of the day that is what matters, not my mess of a laundry room.
The dirty clothes that need to be washed and the clean that need to be folded can wait. My children are only young once. If I have to choose doing laundry or enjoy my family…. EH- I may only do one load that day or maybe even none.
Going into my dreaded room and exposing what it really looks like is part of the Mommy Reality Challenge. This weeks task was to show what our laundry room really looks like! The nitty-gritty. As much as I want to hide it, the challenge is about being real. Well, this is as real as it gets for me.
What does your laundry room look like today? What household area or room to you have the most trouble keeping up with?
