I love it when I see my children reading, especially my teenage son. What makes things even better is when I’m able to find books that my tween and teen can both enjoy.

From the Sellers of The Dream Ten: David’s Miracle by A.D. Erving:
Do you dream, breath and play Basketball?
A must read book series for every Basketball lover in the age of 7-13!
When David Malone and his friends get rejected by the prestigious Raymond Hills Warriors, their local club basketball team, what do they do? They form their own team, The Dream Ten! With a little help from a local hoops legend, Michael Erwin, and with a lot of hard work, the boys learn to confront the unforgiving challenges of youth basketball, including their biggest rival: Dennis “the Truck” McDonald.
Filled with exhilarating basketball action, this series by newcomer A.D. Erving will really give kids something to cheer about.
“On offense, on defense, and everywhere,” readers will get to know the dynamic Dream Ten roster, including David “the Brain” Malone, Captain Larry “the Banker” Young, and Tony “the Human Elevator” Baez, with each volume detailing the team’s basketball adventures in a different character’s unique voice.
The heartfelt 12-book series offers abundant fun and excitement, accompanied by important lessons about overcoming obstacles, achieving goals, and pulling together when it matters most.
A slam dunk for young sports fans everywhere!
My 13-year-old son is very hard to get to read. He will only do the bare minimum reading. You know where they do their required amount of reading time each day, but you can tell they totally don’t want to do it. Since my son loves sports and basketball is one of his favorites, I thought The Dream Ten: David’s Miracle might be a way to get him interested in a book.
My teenage son read through the book at a nice pace, he stayed on task with it and didn’t seem to be as bored as he usually is with his other books. He was able to find empathy for the main character David. I would say for a 13-year-old the book is at their reading level, but not overly challenging. When you have a reluctant reader sometimes having a book that is just right will make them stick with it since it becomes an easy read.
My younger tween son enjoyed this book the most. He has a decent interest in reading and was able to relate to David’s struggles. He was shown through The Dream Ten: David’s Miracle that you are able to accomplish great things through determination, hard work and motivation.
A.D. Erving really brings across the message that by pure willpower and mental strength you are able to overcome roadblocks and hurdles in life. The message is clear in this wonderful sports book that yes it’s great to be born with the physical attributes and talent of an athlete, but even if you aren’t born with these characteristics, you can still do great things.
I love that The Dream Ten is a series type of e-book, I really think series books keeps the young readers hungry for more. Having our kids eager to read the next book in the series is always a great motivator to instill the love of reading. Having this fun book as an e-book is also a bonus since you can basically carry it around wherever you go.
